Our goal

Claim Your Campus means claiming responsibility to humbly pray to God on behalf of your school.

We are uniting one million students to pray once a week at their schools, and we’re grateful for your participation to discover more.

Prayer is a spiritual discipline that many people including Jesus’ disciples had a difficult time understanding. In the Gospel of Luke, the disciples approached Jesus and asked, “Lord, teach us to pray.” These are people that were in his direct proximity, sharing life and meals with Jesus.  Even they had questions and struggles. We believe that all Christians should continually learn and practice prayer within their immediate communities. For students, one of your most immediate communities is your school. Prayer will change your school, and it will change you. Prayer is faith audible. It is verbally expressing our love for God, as well as love for our neighbor.

Our dream is for students like you to grow in faith, to grow in love, and to humbly pray for your school. We are looking for at least 15 students at each school to say “I’m in,” committing to pray once a week at your school. Those 15 break down to three students per day, over the five school days each week. We have some excellent tools for you to help make this happen.

It has been 50 years after the Supreme Court ruling on prayer in public schools. With 67,000 schools, it will take one million students to make this vision of student-led prayer on every campus a reality.

Join the movement, because Prayer Equals Change.

Our story

It started with eight high school students, meeting weekly to pray, in the largest public high school in the state of Michigan.

Over the next few years it slowly grew and spread to other local campuses throughout Grand Rapids. In 2009, their youth pastor, Jeff Eckart, felt the call of God to take the challenge of weekly prayer meetings to schools across America.

This challenge is simple: seeing a student-led prayer movement on every middle school and high school campus in America. With just 15 student leaders per campus growing the movement (three students/day for five days/week) and 67,000 campuses, this movement will enable over 1,000,000 students in prayer!

Since then, CYC has been presented to more than 250,000 students and trained more than 10,000 students to claim their campus through prayer.

Statement of faith

This is what we believe in.

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

We believe there is only one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)

We believe in the deity of Christ (John 1:1), in His virgin birth (Matthew 1:18, 25), in His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15), in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood (Hebrews 9:15-22), in His bodily resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1-8), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Acts 1:9-11), and in His personal return in power and glory (Hebrews 9:27-28).

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men (women), regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential. (John 3:16; John 5:24; Titus 3:3-7)

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life. (John 14:15-26; John 16:5-16; Ephesians 1:13-14)

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, they that are saved unto the resurrection of life and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation. (Matthew 25:31-46; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Philippians 2:1-4)
